Stop the Cavalry is a song written and performed by the English musician Jona Lewie. Lewie said that the song was never intended as a Christmas hit, and that it was a protest song. The arrangement follows the original vocal line and the section arranged for brass band on the original recording has the melody played down an octave on guitar 1 supported by a counter melody on guitar 2. The chordal accompaniment is divided between guitar 3 and 4 giving more flexibility to the chord voicings and allowing the
bass to be damped to sound more like a brass band. For variety everyone could swap parts on the repeat – guitars 1 and 2 play guitars 3 and 4 and vice versa. This is not difficult to play and easy to enjoy.
