Sheep May Safely Graze, J S Bach, BWV 208 for guitar quartet

$10.00

The aria “Schafe können sicher weiden” (Sheep May Safely Graze) is the most familiar part of the Hunting Cantata by J. S. Bach and the subject of this arrangement for guitar quartet. Popular at weddings and Christmas celebrations this is quite a challenging arrangement. The guitar parts will require concentration and practice especially as they use the top end of the guitar going above the 12th fret.

Description

Was mir behagt, ist nur die muntre Jagd BWV 208 also known as the Hunting Cantata, is a secular cantata composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. The aria “Schafe können sicher weiden” (Sheep May Safely Graze) is the most familiar part of this cantata and the subject of this arrangement. This aria is a favourite at weddings and Christmas celebrations. I have included the soprano part with lyrics at the original pitch along with the individual guitar parts. This is quite a challenging arrangement of this famous aria. The guitar parts will require concentration and practice especially as they use the top end of the guitar going above the 12th fret. Guitar 4 will work best on acoustic bass, cello or double bass, or even bassoon if such is available, but I have included a part in treble clef for the guitarists which will work, though losing some resonance.
