Description

These six Studies are intended as a supplement to the The Art Of Accompaniment On The Guitar, particularly Volumes 2 and 3. They contain material for improving technique but also ideas about composition on the guitar and ways to approach it. The Studies are progressive in difficulty. It is important to think carefully about the left hand, if not thought through the hand can end up stranded in the wrong place on the neck and leave a nasty jump which can easily go wrong or be heard by the listener causing a break in the sound. I have considered with attention all the left hand fingering in the studies to try and achieve a performance where the listener is not aware of movement on the neck which can be distracting to the music. All the fingering in the studies is typical of the guitar pieces you will encounter in standard repertoire.

These Studies and their companion volume of five Preludes offer a number of ways to approach arranging for guitar so should be useful to composers and arrangers and not just guitarists.
