The Last Rose Of Summer for guitar and voice

$4.99

The Last Rose of Summer is a poem by Thomas Moore set to a traditional Irish tune arranged for voice and guitar by Simon James.

Description

The Last Rose of Summer is a poem by Thomas Moore set to a traditional tune called “Aislean an Oigfear”, or “The Young Man’s Dream”. The poem and the tune together were published in December 1813 in volume 5 of Thomas Moore’s A Selection of Irish Melodies. The guitar accompaniment is my arrangement of the song and is not difficult to play but each verse is set differently to enhance the poetry and will require more practice as a result. In the last verse the bass notes are off the beat and will need careful rehearsal with your singer. I recorded this and two other Irish songs with the splendid baritone Michael Hickman and you can find them on YouTube.
